Remember the Forest
An exhibition of mixed media work by Wendy Le BerRemember the Forest asks us to remember the forest part of Waltham Forest’s name. Recalling the time when this part of England as many others were once covered in forests.
The forest for me also connects the recycled christmas paper and boxes used in the exhibition with the trees of their origin, and asks us to consider the environment.
The symbol of the Buddha recalls his life as one of a wanderer. travelling through the forests and land of India. Some monks today still live as forest renuncients reminding me of another way of life, without the consumption and complexity of city life.
