Work at the 2008 NBO Conference
You can see a few pieces of my artwork at the 2008 Network of Buddhist Organisations conference the 27th to the 29th June. More information on the conference and the NBO can be found on their site some additional details can also be found here.
My work is concerned with both the political and social environment we live in and the natural world and realm of spirit. Informed from an early connection to the woods and fields in childhood, community action, and as a Buddhist for 16 years (ordained into the WBO in 2002, buddhist name Padmayogini).
Whilst working on my pieces I am trying to make space for an experience of inner vision to infuse or take its rightful place with my outer perception and to listen to what is communicated from the world around me. I draw on disperate sources and influences from contemporary advertising and news to symbolic painters like Blake, Redon, Cecil Colins and Alan Davie. Revealing a world of imagination that is sometimes strange and distinct.
In these works I am exploring the tradition of Buddhist imagery, attempting to stay true to the spirit of the traditions lineages of Buddhist art whilst infusing them with my own contemporary and personal vision.
