The Right Climate?
An exhibition by Wendy Le Ber
climate (WEATHER)
noun [C or U]
the general weather conditions usually found in a particular place:
a hot/dry/harsh climate
The Mediterranean climate is good for growing citrus fruits and grapes.
When we retire, we're going to move to a warmer climate (= an area where the climate is warmer).
climate (SITUATION)
noun [C]
the general development of a situation, or the situation, feelings and opinions that exist at a particular time:
the political/social climate
I don't think we should expand our business in the current economic climate.
Terrorism creates a climate of fear.
It’s not too hard to see the effects of the physical climate on our everyday lives yet it can be harder to see and understand the effects of the other climates that we live and work in.
But those climates have a strong influence on what is considered acceptable and what is not, what we expect and what we end up getting.
The very interconnectedness that is the nature of climates mean that the only way to be able to predict or knowingly influence them is to question everything we accept and everything we do.
This exhibition begins to ask some of those questions, to examine some the many parts that make up our climates.
Asking the questions is as important as finding the answers.
