Trading the Commodity of Death - Mixed media

These maps mark some of the routes of the British Arms Trade showing some of the countries that the DESO has visited, funding by the public through our taxes, on Britain’s behalf to convince the market that Britain is the best at dealing in death.

Although Gordon Brown has promised to end the DESO the arms trade and Britain’s involvement with it continues. Should we consider the selling of weapons of death, suffering and anguish to be the same as any other commodity? Is the ownership and creation of such objects to be aspired to in the same way we aspire to own a home?

Badges of War - Mixed media, desert army shirt & handmade badges

Badges are a part of military uniforms as well as a traditional and cheap form of protest. The badges here show images of war from the first world war right up to the conflicts we a currently engaged in. Pinned to a desert shirt that came from army surplus they question what we ask our soldiers to fight for and why we ask them to fight.
